Psychologist Practicing Under the Supervision of Dr. Robert Brecher

Beginning therapy means setting aside time to look closely at how pain, illness, thoughts and behaviors affect daily life. Dr. Eliza Wilkins recognizes the courage and self-awareness this process requires. She works alongside each client with warmth, curiosity and respect.

Dr. Wilkins supports adults living with chronic illness, chronic pain, anxiety, mood concerns and health-related life changes. Her approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. These approaches can help clients identify patterns that leave them feeling stuck and develop new ways of responding to difficult thoughts, emotions and experiences.

Her work is also shaped by her training and board certification in biofeedback. Biofeedback helps clients observe physiological signals such as muscle tension, hand temperature and perspiration. This information can increase awareness of the body’s stress response and support the development of practical recovery and self-regulation skills.

Dr. Wilkins has trained in private practice, schools, LGBTQ+ mental healthcare and the juvenile justice system. Her earlier experience volunteering in palliative care also helped shape her interest in supporting people through illness, loss and major life transitions.

In addition to chronic illness and pain, her clinical interests include

Dr. Wilkins believes therapy should recognize the whole person, not simply a diagnosis or set of symptoms. She helps clients build greater awareness, flexibility and self-compassion while reconnecting with the relationships and activities that give their lives meaning.
